How to respond to his "Good Morning" texts?

Someone I've been texting has gotten into the habit of sending "good morning" texts, and sometimes "goodnight." I simply don't always know how to respond to them. Replying with the same thing seems somewhat dismissive, yet replying with much more might imply things I don't intend.

It would be great to read some thoughts, experiences, or ideas you have. I'm mostly looking for thoughtful, clever, or otherwise interesting texts to send in response. Nothing too playful; I'm not up for flirting, and I don't quite know how I feel about things yet. I don't have any prior experience in these things.

Have you ever sent/received any particularly memorable messages along these lines? It'd be cool to see those, too.

I'm pretty sure a simple "Good morning, much planned for the day" Is alright. Taking a few hours to reply and reply around with noon with "Afternoon, how has your day been" .. Good night is fairly easy to reply with the boring "Good night".

If it's just friends, I don't see why you want thoughtful and clever opposed to acting normal. And if you do like this person being all "Well good morning to you too.. etc."

If he is messaging every day like that, he may like you, or at least really wants a friendship so why not just reply with what you feel like? He's just having good manners.

Well, if you don't know how to respond the only possible response is " Thanks" but then yes it will sound repetitive otherwise better not to respond.

I'd hate to not respond, though. I know how it feels to be ignored, and the thought of doing that to someone isn't something that I could do. Yes, repetitive, indeed; I do say "thanks," or comment on something minor, but I just feel as if it is missing the mark. I appreciate your post!
