What's up with the blank face? Why is he staring at me?

My crush got up to get more paper during class and he was staring at me to the point where it kind of made me feel a little uncomfortable. Don't worry, he's definitely not a creep though. He stared at me with this blank face, no emotion, nothing. In fact, he stared at me all the way back until he sat down and he was turning his head and everything, maintaining eye contact with me. It was very noticeable that my friends even noticed. So what's up with the blank face? He also stares at me a lot because can just sense him in my peripheral vision staring at me but whenever I look at him, his face pretty much says "why is she looking at me"or almost like I startled him. He stares at me and I look at him and he just looks away like nothing happened?
