My man told his parents we had sex , should I be embarrassed?

so me and my "bf" had sex for the first time about a week ago (been together for a little over 3 months but we haven't made it official yet) and I guess I left a hickey on his neck and didn't realize because he's on the darker side and I didn't think I had sucked hard enough for anything to show up. Anyways fast forward to about 2 days later and I had barely heard from him all day and I was getting mad because I thought he was ignoring me until he texted me in the afternoon saying he got his phone taken because of me and I asked him what I did (we are both 17) . Anyways he told me it was because I gave him a hickey and his parents saw and when I asked him what he said he said , "I told them the truth, that we had sex ". I got really embarrassed and mad because 1. I have yet to meet his parents and 2. I find it embarrassing that they know and probably now have a image of their son having sex with me. I asked him what they said and he said that they didn't care but I said yet they took your phone and he said they were just mad that he left the house and didn't tell them, which was surprising because his parents are super strict and I would have expected more. I told him that I feel like I gave them a bad first impression and that they think I'm a hoe now , especially since we aren't technically dating but he was reassuring me that they didn't care about the sex just that he didn't let them know and that from now on he's going to tell them when he's coming over , which basically lets them know that we might have sex and I find that embarrassing bc I would have liked the benefit of the doubt. My friends said its good he's open with his parents but I feel like now when I do meet them they are going to judge me harder. My best friend told me that at least we are serious enough to let his mom know he's having sex with me but that doesn't mean anything because what if she knows about all the other girls he's had sex with? I don't know what to think about the whole thing tbh.
