What makes a guy with a "player" reputation want to settle down? What makes one girl stand out from the rest?

When I became interested in my now boyfriend of 1 year (we're both in our mid 20's), all the girls I talked to told me not to waste my time. They said he was a player, would never actually care about me, and that I would end up getting hurt. He's had a reputation, and I knew about it, but I went for it anyway because I really liked him- and found him EXTREMELY attractive.

It took some time and patience, but he eventually opened up to me and one day he finally called me his girlfriend. We've been happily living together for a few months now, and he talks about our future together. I keep thinking about what my friends told me about him, and I just can't wrap my head around why he chose me (a pretty average looking girl with a bit of an attitude), over all the other beauties out there. He's been single for a few years and never got serious with anyone until me.

So what I'm curious to know is, in your guys's opinions, what qualities make a girl worth settling down for?

I've been called a player too but it's just because I've been with a lot of women and it's almost the same as people calling women a slut because they've been in a lotta relationships (which is something I do not agree to) but I think if he was a player for real he wouldn't have settled down with you, because basically, players are guys who just come and go, they're like fuckbois and they end up leaving every day, now given that you're living together for months I've assumed that you guys have had sex and if he's still around even after that, and he's talking about your future together, I think he's the real deal and you should trust him

I totally agree- I don't think being with a lot of people makes someone a "player," but a lot of girls will go and label a guy because of it. My boyfriend told me that he hadn't been in a relationship in a while because he was picky. That was nice to hear haha. Thanks for the input!

It's hard to say, usually its usually a girl who doesn't stand for his shit and is attractive *enough* to be seen with. Usually combined with maturity that comes with age.

However in this instance, i'd be careful of him talking about the future just a few months in. That is 100% classic player talk... trust me.

A girl that he can trust and put his guard down for. A girl that can see him for who he really is. Being a player isn't what it seems. Its full of emptiness and loneliness. A desire to fill a void which cannot be filled with pointless pussy. Its very ego driven, and mentally exhausting. Its like any addiction. It starts it great, and eventually consumes you and destroys you. Give a player something he's never had, and hell treat you like he's never treated anyone before you.

Play hard to get until you drive him into a corner, then give him an ultimatum, either lose the other girls or he won't get you. You'll probably hasve to play hard to get until marriage but give him enough reward to drag him along

haha you can never be sure of anyone or anything, but my boyfriend is making it very clear that he loves me and wants only me and I have to trust him. If you don't have trust, then you don't have a solid relationship. I'm not "surrendering" to him, I'm trusting him to be faithful and to be there for me. Sure, in many cases someone is not faithful and that sucks, but it's a risk we all take when we enter a romantic relationship.
