Is it weird for a guy friend or random guy to call a girl “honey” or “sweetheart”?

Yesterday I was with my guy friend. He called me honey. He never called me that before so I assumed he was calling me that in a joking way. But I’m still thinking why he would say that. He has no interest in me (he is bisexual but has a boyfriend) so I’m still sticking with my “he’s just joking” assumption.

Then just today I was walking to my massage therapy appointment when a random guy said “hello sweetheart” as I walked by. Never met this guy before but I remember his face from a few months ago. He stopped me on the street to talk to me but I kept walking because I had places to go. That guy creeped me out a bit because I don’t know him.

It’s just a term of endearment that’s all. It can be simply friendly as well as more. In your situations I’d just say it’s friendly and casual.

My guy friend has called me all sorts from sleeping beauty to bobble head 😂

I call girls I'm friendly with "hun," "babe," etc. all the time in passing. They think it's cute and funny because it's not in a flirtatious kind of way and just me being goofy. So I guess it depends on intent and delivery.

It depends on the part of the country they are from, their ethnicity, and family culture. For some families, this is very common and acceptable.

Well I don't know how people will talk where you live, but guys and women will call someone sweetheart or honey, I get called that all the time, sometimes I will hear darling.
But I don't know maybe don't put to much thought into it.
