What do shy guys say to their friends about their crush?

Usually nothing they keep it to themselves and in the end shoot themselves in the foot because of it. For example a buddy of mine had a crush on a girl for a while and never told anyone so later down the road his crush starts crushing on me and we start fooling around he finds out and gets furious and refused to talk to either one of us for 3 months. But had I known that he liked her I wouldn't have hooked up with her.

I had the same issue as this guy's friend, except I got over it in a month rather than 3... But now I let at least 1 friend know when I have a crush on someone, although I need to trust the friend greatly. Even then, I don't say much other than I like her because the friend I tell would know of her too already anyway.
