Do rednecks hate muslims?

I am a muslim, Tim Mcgraw is one of my favorites and I love rednecks! their farms, their music, their accents and how simple and honest they take life... I've been told they usually mind their own business and would welcome strangers, and would love to socialize with just anyone. So why do some people say rednecks hate muslims, is it the race thing? well I'm a white muslim and honestly even I might feel furious when it comes to some paki or irani people, and I just plain hate anythings hindu. Or should I say the problem is the religion? the culture? do rednecks hate anything that isn't christian? do they know muslims worship the same God who sent Jesus christ?

I was born in SC, grew up in AL, and now live in NC. I'm not a redneck but I'm definitely a southern, Christian, gentleman. It scares me to see the prejudice in this country toward the Muslim Community. I think it can be entirely attributed to ignorance. This ignorance perpetuates the fear that was born in this country on 9/11 2001. I had a few Muslim friends when I was in the Army. These men and women hold many of the same convictions that I do, including a strong sense of pride in our great nation. I believe that there are religious zealots in all religions who cast a shadow on their respective belief system. The Muslim extremists we see in the media are these people, just as the westboro baptist church people are for the Christian community. They don't accurately convey the sentiments of the entire group. We have been down this road in this country in the past. Take for instance the fear and prejudice toward the Japanese community during WWII. I think it would be prejudice to assume that all rednecks hate Muslims, however the anti Muslim sentiment among the U.S. right wing of politics can be seen clearly in how the right wing media has spun the release of U.S. POW Bowe Burgdahl. Bill O'reilly attempted to justify his claim of Burgdahl's father appearing Muslim by saying " I said he looks Muslim, because he looks Muslim." Genius, right? If he looks Muslim because he has a beard the Robertson's of Duck Dynasty should send Bill O into a tizzy too. Like I said it's all just ignorance, and while it is definitely out there, there are also good people who will judge you on a personal basis, based on your character rather than some shallow fear of those who don't look, act, and believe like them.

I also think Bill O is a businessman, he needs to satisfy his paranoid audience. The same goes for all the hateful fearmongers in power. However, I hope people with your same mindset and manners prevail, inshallah.

As long as you don't start any trouble, most of us will welcome you. That goes for anyone. Most people mistake "redneck" with ignorant, racist, inbred white Southerners, which is not true. The original term was for hard-working white laborers, because they would get red necks from working outside all day. It was morphed into a more derogatory term by anyone that wasn't Southern. There are still a lot of people that identify as a redneck that aren't ignorant, racist, etc and they use it as a source of pride. You might run up on a couple of douche bags, but for the most part, it would be fine. We wouldn't be able to hang on to the whole Southern hospitality thing if we went around blowing people's heads off.

I guess you could call me a redneck girl. I'm definitely a Southern girl and a Christian. :) I have nothing against any group of people. One of my best friends from school was Muslim. If I don't like someone, it has nothing to do with the color of skin, religion, etc. It has everything to do with how that specific person acts and treats others. I don't like terrorists, obviously. I'm not ignorant, so I don't automatically think Muslim = terrorist. That would be silly.

Rednecks are pretty much by definition ignorant, and therefore unaccepting of any views or cultures different to theirs.

I'm against religion in general but can appreciate why people believe in it, however most rednecks will be hardcore christians and will therefore think any other faith is 'evil'. >_>

Yes I know and I don't feel good about it, but I included that line just as an example to encourage the answerers to talk about this with an open mind and admit what they wouldn't want to admit. By the way, I have reasons why I hate iranians, they're hostile to people of my faith, and pakis are making terrorists, hindu people are not believers and their culture is full of voodoo.

iranians don't only have a problem with arabs they're hostile to the opposites of their religion "shia", which happens to be proper moderate "sunni" muslims, most of people don't care but I do. Pakis are the reason why people in america think islam is evil because they stripped it out of it's initials like love, civilisation, respecting others and mixed it with their twisted traditions. Hindu groups are burning and killing muslims and christians in india on a daily basis, more reasons for me?

Well, I'm Iranian, ass-hat. I was born in Maryland, and have lived here all my life. I'm a Christian, and so is my family. Oh, by the way, 90% of Iranians are non-religous.

Great, I was talking about the shia people, not all iranians, I'd appreciate it if you pass on my previous comments on iranian people and replace that word with "shia". It's just hard to explain these things to everybody since not everybody is familiar with these issues so I just used the term "iranians". I believe as well, that most of iranians living abroad have escaped from the hell that's called "islamic revolution", while in fact it's a disgrace to islam. My apologies.

She's Canadian American , used to live in Seattle (very redneck), and Surrey British Colombia
We love each other and we are going to marry , her family are very christian rednecks and I'm a Muslim.
