Replying with an emoji?

Hi so I’ve been chatting with this guy for a while, like everyday. We had a slight disagreement yesterday, which I admit, I overreacted and have since apologised but he ignored my message. I then sent another message, a really nice one and he replied with the nerd face emoji and nothing else. I don’t get it and don’t want to message him again now. I feel like that’s not really a response. What do you think the a reply with just an emoji?

In all seriousness, I don't reply if someone replies with just an emoji. That's a conversation end as far as I'm concerned. I see it as an attention seek.

It’s just that we’ve literally been talking for such a long time and to stop talking over such a minor disagreement I think is ridiculous, especially as I’ve owned my part in it!!
