Hung out with my shy guy friend last night. We rarely see each other because we study far away from each other. He is graduating soon and is planning to move to Spain where his father lives. He said ”When I move to Spain, you’re gonna come there. We can hang at the beach, just chill.”

He never initiates anything with anyone because of his shyness. Is he trying to hint interest or is he just being friendly?

I'm a straight man, but one of my closest friends is a straight woman. I am living in Japan temporarily. My friend and I are both American. She is planning to visit me, and it is her idea not mine. The thing is though we are just friends. So it could just be friendly, but he might want more than friendship. The only way to know is to actually ask him.

I wouldn't say he's just being friendly but it's hard to say if he wants it to be much more. What I can say is he does really value you as a person.
