I follow my crush on instagram. I've few times reached to him by commenting on his story updates. He has done that too but only couple times months ago.

My question is this. Let's say he does like me and he does think of me a lot. Would there be such a lack of contact? I mean, wouldn't he want to talk to me if he did like me? I guess you could say that I'm reading the fact that he's on instagram , but not messaging me as a sign that I really don't cross his mind that much. Am I being over sensitive and over reacting about this? Do you somewhat ignore girls online that you really like and think about a lot?

As someone who is very introverted I was a bit different in the sense that I'd drop jokes and hints and stuff to my crush but back out when things got too real. I. e. dropping tonnes of hints and doing my best to impress a girl I liked, then when she said she was considering breaking up with her boyfriend because she thought I was way better. I got scared and talked her out of that.

Bottom line I was happy talking on internet and texting until it started getting real with implications and consequences

As a shy and introverted guy, I try my best to hide my feelings for crushes (unless I know they like me too). It's counter-intuitive and stupid but I'm to afraid to open up and take the risk. I would never message first in the scenario you're describing. I would however be responsive if the person tried to message me, so I'd suggest starting off with that. Although to be clear, him responding to your messages isn't necessarily a sign that he likes you, it'd be the content of the messages that would reveal that, and for an introvert, you'll probably need to show interest first before he'll feel safe to do the same.

Does he have a lot of followers? That’s what it sounds like. Maybe he isn’t single. Just not into wanting a relationship at this time. Guys can talk to women casually it doesn’t mean he’s so much interested in dating you as much as he’s just being nice and responding. Mixed signals really mean not interested. Well my boyfriend is shy, but once that he knew I was interested in him, he stepped up and pursued me. And STILL pursues me. And he really was quite extremely shy at the start of our partnership. Shy or not, when someone likes you, they will make sure you know.

It’s one of three things:

1. He’s just not that into you. Not as much as you hope.

2. He does like you but is playing hard to get. Giving women too much social media attention is a turnoff. They see that as “beta” behavior flirting. I learned my lesson on this many years ago.

3. He’s oblivious that you like him. I’ve had plenty of women who liked all my social media posts who were just friendzoning me and “throwing out bones” in hopes I’ll stay in their bullshit “orbit” so they can use me at some point. I don’t take a girl liking my posts seriously. It’s a sign but definitely nothing to confirm.
