1.1K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. Words are easy to say. So yes it's possible to say "I love you" and not mean it.
It's a cruel thing to do.
A person could say it to be deliberately manipulative, just to say what a girl wants to hear so that she will continue providing sex.
Or, more often, a person who says that doesn't even know what actual love is. They hear it in movies, they see it on greeting cards. They think "I love you" is what people say to romantic partners. They don't understand that true love is something very, very special.
They mistake infatuation with love. The powerful feelings of infatuation are what we associate with love. That's where the term "love at first sight" comes from. You can't fall in love at first sight. You "fall" in infatuation. And when someone is in infatuation, they project all kinds of unrealistic qualities onto the object of their affection. In their eyes the person is the most ideal creature ever born. Love begins when you see the person for who they truly are.
The term "to make love" misrepresents the meaning of love.
Sometimes people rationalize saying "I love you" by thinking that we also apply the word to other things. We might say we love chocolate, but do we truly love chocolate in the same sense that we would love a person enough to commit to a life of marriage?
Immature people sometimes tell a person that they love them during or after the first time they have sex with them because they get so carried away with the deep emotional feelings. Again, they think that's what lovers say to each other.
In the end, actions mean more than words.
When I was 16, I got together with my first girlfriend. She was 15. She would say that she loved me and expect me to say it back to her, and I did. Many people really, really want to be in love even though they have no idea what it means. It feels so warm and fuzzy. They want someone of their very own. It's what they have wanted all their lives, just like being in a Disney movie where a prince who falls in love with a princess and they live happily ever after, with a romantic sound track and everything. That's not how love works.
I'll admit that, although I had quite a few girlfriends that I was deeply infatuated with, I didn't learn the true meaning of love until I was in my late 30s. That's just me. I'm not saying that I'm typical. But I will say that I avoided saying it to women because I didn't want to be manipulative. Sometimes it was unavoidable, though, because there are no words in our language that mean "I like you a LOT!"
I didn't want to get married or start a family and I had a feeling that I would have found true love only if I found someone that I knew for a fact that I would want to spend the rest of my life with and grow old together. Hell, at that point, I didn't want to grow old. I was too busy getting the most out of life. I was too self centered.
But if I made a commitment, I would take such a commitment very, very seriously. It would mean that I would respect, cherish and trust that person completely, and do everything in my power to make them happy and keep our relationship healthy and strong. I would do anything short of debasing myself to hold onto them. (You can't love someone else if you don't love, honor and respect yourself. And no one can love someone who doesn't have dignity and self respect.)
I finally met that person when I was 40. But I wouldn't have recognized the right qualities in a woman and she wouldn't have loved me unless I had grown enough as a person to be worthy.
Again, there are many people who gain perspective and emotional maturity much earlier than did I. And many, if not most, people want to raise families.10 Reply

Would depend on the guy. I personally NEVER use that word unless I mean it. But I know men that don't give a shit and will say it just to get sex lol.
If girls would just ask a few questions they could probably figure it out, but women are far too hopeful about this sometimes.
Look at what he does not what he says. That will tell you if he loves you.10 Reply

I love you is something that means less and less every time you say it and when you say it every day it becomes a habbit of the tongue not someone pooring out their heart10 Reply- 670 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic.

@S3ntnl she is 😊. Glad someone else realizes it too lol.
+1 yYes. Love is fake and everyone only pretends to be in love because they are stupid normies who refuse to see the truth. Even my parents do this. But I am smarter because I know that love is fake and I have never felt emotions towards anyone aside from anger or lust. I will say I love you but I do not want anything to do with you.
00 ReplyOf course! The words "I love you" mean more than just words, it's a do or die sentiment. Guys use this to flater stupid girls who dont know what love is. Why do you think divorce rates are so high!
