How come so many men don't take care of there kids?

Fathers day is coming up and all I can thunk about is how many men don't take care of their kids. How is that? I don't understand how someone could be so selfish to abandon their own child

I'd say because they know no better. Most "deadbeat dads" either had illicit sex with a woman that he later learned he does not like, or just does not have the scruples to be responsible in the first place.

I for one, have not children and I am 32. Moreover, I would rather be married... Married for at least 2-3 years before children. If I met a woman today that I would marry in the future, We probably will be engaged for at least 3 years before marriage, let alone date for 2 years before being engaged. Given the time table, if I were to meet her tomorrow, I would not have children until perhaps 8 years from now...

My point being, A lot of men have children young, and youth is the point of irresponsibility. These days, we are inundated by a slew of irresponsible parents either male or female.

However, I believe that people should have children when they are ready for the responsibility, NOT by accident and because it just happened. Sex=procreation, after all...

Just because you're a dad doesn't make you a man.

He probably wasn't fully aware of the life-long responsibility that he would have to own up to because of his decision to be a father.

I come from a long line of superb dads, and I use my brother and my good friend as guides for being a better dad. Once my daughter told me that I was the best daddy ever. I told her that I'm the best dad for her.

There are issues with both parents, but for some reason, it's the dads that get it the worst because they parent differently than mothers. The mothers I know are nurturers, while the dads want children to make mistakes.

You ever been told to put a jacket on because it's cold outside? Which parent told you that?

When my daughter says 'Ow' or 'That hurt', I respond, 'Well, then don't do that.' If we protect our children to the point that they never experience pain, then the next generation won't know how to learn from pain.

well I know some father's abandon their kids because they're afraid of being bad fathers. sounds crazy, but I've seen it many times before. They figure, no father is better than a bad father, which may be true, but it is horrible for the kid even if the mom can take care of him/her, they will always feel abandoned, which causes so many emotional issues, whether obvious or not. I think mother's are less likely to leave their kids because they already share such a strong connection with the child from the start and the father really has to make an effort to make a connection with their child. Father's feel the pressure of being the leader of the family, and when there are issues with his family that he cannot not solve, he leaves out of his own selfishness and insecurities. It's sad this is so common... it hurts so much for the kids and many of father's that leave have had their father's abandon them, it's a terrible cycle.

I'm sure some do it because they're scared like ZenQueen said. But in the case of my father who I never saw after the age of 1... I think he was just lazy and didn't want the responsibility of raising a kid. He didn't want to work and my mom filed for divorce. I never saw him again once they were divorced. He tried to contact me once every few years, but that was it, usually it was because he wanted to talk to my mother.

Er... what the guy anon said. That's ridiculous to talk like a majority of fathers abandon their children. Mothers do the same. There are tons of different reasons for it, some legitimate and some not so much.

Because men of this, and younger, generation are becoming more and more worthless. They are either becoming pussified by liberalism and feminism, or they are adopting a jerk-off gangsta persona where they thrive off of ignorance and selfishness (and you women are stupid enough to have sex with these idiots).

Maybe they didn't want it in the first place. Maybe they had a kid and then their woman started messing around on them. Maybe they don't like standing around with their hands in poo.

And besides, some men are such a**holes the kids are better off without them around

Custody cases are biased towards women, sometimes women trap men, sometimes they just don't want a part of the child's life, other times their lifestyle can't support a child (ie. drug addiction, criminal activities ect.).
