Is men's dating advice and self help terrible because it's treated with crass over generalizations and psuedo science & stereotypes?

I'm still drawn to that type of subject matter like a moth to a flame (and also because a lot of it still applies to me) but I notice a herd mentality, a 1 size fits all approach along with everyone repeating the same things as if that's going to make it more true rather than delusional and misinformed.

The more I've digged the more I saw there was nothing there but an empty hole... and so I came to the conclusion that no one can tell you how to live your life but you. Because no one will truly know the complexity of your problems and how to solve them. Besides a lot of it is based on what you are capable of pulling off because someone could suggest to you what they would do but you wouldn't be able to do the same because it could be out of your capabilities.

Self-help books are written by people who make their living writing self-help books, and the product they produce is made to one commercial standard: will this sell?

But that OSFA mentality appeals because most people want to believe that crap. Look at the questions posted on this site. "Do all men like _____?" or "Why do all women say this but act the opposite?" etc. People are looking for overly simplistic answers, so the crapola on the self-help shelves sells like hotcakes.

However, there are occasional nuggets of useful information contained in those paperbacks.

I don't think it's terrible; I just think it only benefits a few men out there and people's problems are too different and varied for a "one size fits all" approach. I voted B, but more options would be needed.

Wholeheartedly agree, the one size fits all approach is extremely unhelpful when it comes to this subject matter.

No. I think most of it is actually pretty good. But it's not a magic spell. You DO still have to do the work to improve skills you may lack. Sounds to me like you don't want to do that.
