What does it mean if a guy started asking about my favourite things?

So there's one of my classmate, with whom I became kinda close lately. I first get to know him when we are having a group presentation and our teacher organised the group members and he was there in my group. Due to covid pandemic, we used to have classes, divided into two shifts. I was in the 2nd shift and he was in the 1st.. so I hardly knew him at the beginning. I was kinda attracted to him and I thought of texting him. Well I did but the way he responded... so cold hearted.. I thought.🤧... but after this presentation ended , he started asking about my favourite things and then continue to text me...( Well I'm not a person that anyone would like to approach because of my gloominess, and I don't have many friends.. hardly one or two... I'm a shy person and hardly talks with anyone and I'm traumatized by some past related problems. ) So I'm kinda confused like why did he continue texting me despite being a cold hearted person... does he likes me or something.. or he's just being nice to me because he pity me?

Well he most certainly "likes you." That doesn't necessarily mean likes you romantically, but there is no doubt that this guy likes you enough to want to get to know you better.

I don't know what he said, but my guess is that his text message was never meant to be cold hearted. Guys, generally are horrible at texting. Particularily they're horrible at thinking "now... how would I react if I were receiving this text I'm about to send". So my guess is that HE didn't think of it as a cold reply.

Sometimes... when a guy starts asking a girl what her favorite things are it's because he has romantic feelings for her. It's one of those "I want to know what things you like" thinking of like a future girlfriend.

But...

The problem is, asking a girl what her favorite things are is ALSO equally likely to simply be a guy who doesn't really know what to say over text... but DOES want to be talking to the girl (either as freiends or romantically). Asking what your favorite things are is a way to keep a conversation going. It's a question he knows will mean you'll have something to say back.

So, I really can't tell you if this guy has romantic feelings for you or just wants to be friends. My advice would be to keep getting to know him... and the answer to that should become pretty clear over a bit of time.

He is not being nice to you because he pities you. He genuinely wants to know you better.

I find text messages are always up for interpretation. Sometimes they are intended one way and sound another. Best to try to get to know him in person before passing judgement.

Maybe he does like you.

Maybe.. but there's maybe some reason behind it.. I'm trying to figure it out.. but sometimes he acts too rude (TT) and it hurts
