My boyfriend is sick. He said he’s going to take some rest, but he’s playing video games?

He is sick, and I told him to go get some rest. He said he’s going to get some rest now, but he’s playing a video game? I can’t visit him because my mom isn’t allowing me to go to his house because of COVID and we’re both attending online classes.

I’m chatting with a few friends on discord and I can see his online status. I’m not a stalker but wtf?

Does taking a rest always and only mean sleep?
or can it also mean, simply laying in bed/on the couch, because in this case you can do both.

And even if he is playing video games, whats your problem?

They won't make him more sick, and often video games are one of the few things you can do while being sick.

Would you have the same problem when he were reading a book or watching TV?

He said he was going to bed and he started playing video games, lol. We don’t get to spend much time together and I just thought I could cheer him up or send him some funny videos or something to make him feel better. He’s online but I don’t wanna bother him

The man just wants to relax and play some video games. Resting as in sleeping all day is one ot the worst things you can do while being sick. It can make you feel worse.

Even if he said he's going to sleep and you saw that he's online, he probably just changed his mind or couldn't fall asleep (maybe he's been sleeping all day because he's sick) I do that too. I won't be able to fall asleep and end up gaming, even when I have to be up at 4am lol.

He kind of did the same thing yesterday lol. We don’t get to spend much time together since I’m preparing for entry into med school. He’s busy with his studies as well.. we talk in the mornings and at night. We don’t talk in the middle because we didn’t want to get in the way of each other’s schedules. I missed him so bad and wanted to talk to him last night. He was excited about his game and since we’re big on communication I told him that I was upset that we didn’t get to spend much time together. I’m worried that I’m coming off as desperate/needy. I try not to feel anxious, so whenever I stop trying to come off as needy, I appear as aloof/cold even when I’m not. I feel like he’s lost interest in me.

I have trust issues, and so does he. Both of us have anxiety and trust issues.

He came online today morning, and his status went to idle, he came on again, and didn’t reply for about 40 mins (he was not playing video games tho)

It's a NEW game so it's definitely normal. Don't be too hard on yourself. There's nothing wrong about you about you voicing your concerns and he should still be making time for you. But, like you said, he's sick and is stuck at home with a brand new games he's been waiting for. I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

“Rest” can mean many things.
It could mean sleeping, or taking things easy. In this case, he is taking things easy. Playing video games doesn’t require a lot of strenuous activities, just moving your head and hands/arms. My boyfriend did the same when he had COVID, he sat back and relaxed, took things easy, and didn’t do too much activity that could tire you out.

I think it’s understandable to be excited about a new game and play it for hours.

Hm… I see what you’re saying. I don’t think there’s much to worry about. I think he might want to play video games for a little bit and then eventually fall asleep when he’s tired.
I’ve noticed a lot of guys do that. They say they’re gonna sleep, then they play a little longer, then they go to sleep.
