Why would a guy act mean but nervous?

What is going on in his mind?
I met this guy ( in a friend group) and he was nice the first time I met him. The second time he looked terrified and got shy. Very nervous, wouldn’t look at me at all. Snappy, short, rude, aloof. I was very nice to him. He stares at me a lot. But looks terrified. When I talk to him, he’s very nervous, fidgety, says snappy things and is kind of rude. I’m not intimidating, I’m very nice, and especially gentle with him. He seems relaxed and cool around everyone. But something about me makes him extremely nervous but almost hateful at the same time. I don’t think I could cause somebody to be that nervous. That’s not attraction. That’s something else, am I right? Why would he treat me like that?

There can be many reasons why a guy might act mean but nervous around someone he likes. Maybe he's worried about what the other person thinks of him and he's trying to put up a tough exterior. Maybe he's not sure how to act around someone he likes and he's feeling a little bit out of his comfort zone. Or, maybe he's just a nervous person in general and he's not really sure how to act around other people.

In any case, if a guy is acting mean but nervous around you, it might be a sign that he's interested in you. If you're interested in him too, you might want to try reaching out to him and see if he's willing to start a conversation. If he is, you can try to get to know him a little bit better and see if there might be a potential relationship there.

You could perhaps try to adress this issue to one of his friends, why he would act like that. They'd know him better.

He isn't used to having an all-consuming and strong attraction. He may be in love. He thinks it gives you power over him and he doesn't like it.

His solution is to dump these emotions on you by making you feel you've done something wrong. Your crime is that you have destabilized him.

It is charming and flattering to have such an effect in simeone but trust me, you don't want to get involved with this guy. He likely cannot have a healthy relationship.

Iv been through the same guy. He either could be abusive or just insecure. Stay away from him, he is an emotional train wreck and no matter how much you are nice to him or like him he will always be put off by you and its not actually by you its just his own internal problems. He does like you but its not worth being with someone of this kind of attitude.

Just has anxiety. Don't listen to these other people telling you to stop being nice to him or act like he doesn't exist. You treat people nice. If they have anxiety that is their issue. You cannot change your behavior to fix every problem another person has. Treat him nice like you do everyone and just leave it at that. He will come around. If you wish to know more, ask him why he acts like that toward you.

Sounds like he has some internal emotional struggles. I'd probably keep the distance and with time try to evaluate the situation better.

Usually if he looks nervous then he most likely is, So if you like him just keep talking to him and he will eventually warm up to you.
