He started to drink... how to act?

I spent a night in the house of my boyfriend and he told me that last 3 days he was very depressed, started drinking. He showed me a half empty vodka bottle saying:look how much I drank just in 2 days. I was confused and mumbled something like:wow you better stoo drinking so much, ok. But now I really think why he did that, why showed me that bottle? he knows how anti alcohola dn anti drugs I am.

Well he have "good" reason to drink or to behave strange or not as usual anyway.
He is drinking to keep his mind from the reason he is depressed and he showed that bottle just to say "hey look how much did I drink to keep my mind of that (his issue, not to think about it)". What to do? Well you should talk about it, see the core of the issue and what can both of you do to keep him on right path.

His family problems
His mom talking shit about his beloved dead dad...
He suffers a lot
There i can't do anything because besides they are in Mexico so he can't even talk in person to her
I dont know how to act or react to that bottle
