Do you guys stalk a girls social media/Snapchat stories for a while before texting her?

No. If it's the point where I've dl'ed some random app to talk to them, they've already given me info. I've heard of stalking or creeping on someone's facebook a long time ago but the terms are pretty telling. Stalking and creepin' are... well creepy. Need to calm down.

Ahh. I believe I misunderstood you. Well, back when facebook was still just a college level networking site, we had to make a profile and add people from our classes from semester to semester. Being active on facebook was part of our grades in classes for, I want to say about one and a half years.

They were pushing very hard the concept of networking, so it was required to have a well developed profile. Life achievements, education, skills you've mastered (like typing speed, when that still mattered. 70 to 90 wpm with one error correction per minute was considered average. The aim was to be flawless and huge chunks of your grade depended on it. No errors and close to 120 words a minute was what to shoot for.), and social life, including extra-curriculars, volunteer work, jobs, etc.

With it being required to get your degree basically, your facebook had to be vibrant, full of pictures, and informative of your life. There was a large amount of resentment for being forced to fill the profile with information that you'd rather keep private and the fact is was a bunch of busy work, wasting time that could have been spent on research or the like. You could also get in trouble if the page didn't maintain a puritanical, extreme professional level of tone. Status updates back then were (First name Last name) is: ... The is was required lol.

But the etiquette then demanded you not explore another person's profile. At all. You clicked them, messaged them, and closed out. People didn't want to put their info out there, but they had to, so don't read it. If did you were sleazy and a creep. They couldn't track who looked at what but if you slipped and revealed that you did... if you were a guy, good luck getting a date. If think a woman's punishment was based off popularity and general attractiveness.

Those were the first couple years I spent on social media. I still pretty much stick to those rules; old habits are hard to break haha.
