Why is he acting nicer now that I'm pregnant?

By all accounts my boyfriend had been a real jerk and frequently behaved like he really just tolerated me. Don't ask why I stayed, I don't know other than my feelings for him. There was a lack of affection, no desire for us to go out unless I planned it and asked, etc. I recently found out I am pregnancy and was absolutely terrified to tell him. I was truly surprised by his reaction. He was very supportive vowing to be here for me and support me no matter what I decided and told me it's my body my choice despite my insisting his opinion matters too. Ever since then it's like I have a whole new man. I'm greeted with hugs, it doesn't bother him when I cuddle him, he has taken me out and even cooked for me for the first time. I don't know what to think. Is it to win my mind over to do what he wants (which he hasn't expressed yet), is it because he is trying to be supportive and sensitive right now? Help me out here
