I moved to a new town about 7 months ago and started a new job. It's a big town but has a strong sense of community.
Everyone is so lovely in this town compared to wear I used to live. Strangers will just talk to your in the street and are so friendly and kind. I'm really falling in love with the area.
The one thing that shocked me a little is how the men are don't get me wrong there not bad men they are just very old fashioned. At work I get called babes, Babs, sweet heart, my lovely my the men. I actually don't find it offensive and see it as a term of endearment.
They are also very touchy, always hugging and kissing the woman on the cheek etc when they are not in a relationship. I don't think it's a bad thing at all if it's done with good intentions. I just think there very affectionate people.
At work Im not sure If the men take me seriously as they are always making hight jokes because I'm 5ft and have lots of nicknames for me like " little Ally" and "shortie". I think they just think I'm still little cute thing.
I do work in a male dominated industry but there are actually just as much men and women at this company I work at now. I always seem to make a lot of male friends at work including this place.
Some guys are really shy around me at first but once I get walking to them they are constantly coming to see how I am and chatting with me.
I told my dad but I'm making lots of friends in this new town and when he found out they were mostly male he laughed. He said "when are you gonna learn them boys aren't interested in friendship"
To be honest most my past male friendships have ended bad or we somehow lost contact over the years and this is why I'm constantly confused and paranoid.
