So! I recently started a new job and, pretty much, immediately felt drawn to one of my co-workers. I asked him for help during my second day and he was happy to assist. Giving me a kind smile and engaging eye contact afterwards. The next day I needed to clarify some things and since he was the closest to me, I asked him for help again. I was given another kind smile and more eye contact. Plus a very thoughtful example on how to do my task. I made sure to return the same body language to hopefully show my interest. Although I am a bit shy in nature.
Fast forward to my 2nd week and he gets assigned to help me with something. This time he didn’t seem too happy. I was hoping this would be my chance to get to know him more. Instead he quickly did what he had to do and moved on. I did my best to apologize for bothering him but he simply said “it’s fine”. I was hoping our first interactions really left room for a good connection. Even if it meant us being good colleagues/friends. Although the goal would be romantic connection.
Did I do something to make him pull away? Maybe I didn’t show my interest enough? Or that’s exactly it and he wants to show he’s not interested? If anything the change in attitude left me confused.
