What do I do if I realized that my 40 year old coworker who hit on me and complomented me before didn't mwan it?

He dont like me he's just fake like most people at work who try to endear you to them with words.

Yeah, most people at work will do enough to make working with you tolerable, but yeah. They are your coworkers. Not your friends and not your lovers.

You can develop closer relationships with them if you both want, but they're not defaulting to being good to you.

Being polite or nice at work doesn't mean someone likes you. It means they're hoping they can get through 40 hours of drudgery alongside you and hopefully not fucking hate you by the end of it.

Eh, I doubt a 40 year-old would hit on you if they didn't mean it. Most likely he meant it and then he changed his mind. Maybe he realized that if he's accused of sexual harassment he could lose his job and a lot of his money so it's not really worth it.
