Doesn't matter if it's a guy or a girl, chasing never helps. Liking someone and being interested in them is a bit different from being highly infatuated and chasing the person you like and going way beyond your boundaries. There has to be a limit to it and going further can make you look desperate which I don't think is liked much.
Try to connect, contact and conversate but don't try too hard if they're not showing interest. If the person is interested in you then he will respond to your actions and if not then maybe he's not into you.
