Why does my friend get smatter when he drinks?

okay so usually he's quite reserved and will only speak when he needs too, he's not stuck up or anything... he's always been more shy... but recently I've noticed that if he's had like 2-3 drinks he just goes all out which is quite interesting really, not like silly drunk but intellectual drunk.

Last night we all were talking about random stuff and it just sparked and interest in him which made him talk about in depth physics, lol I never knew he was even into that stuff but it was so cool to listen to him and open up , but I was like dude like '' what? how do you know all this?'' and he said something like '' I'm merely an observer, I learn what I can from any environment & whenever I can learn I try to just put the pieces together unbiasedly ''

Dude it sounds like your friend is the more the intellectual type who has some social anxiety which explains why he gets more vocal when he's had a few.. it helps him loosen up and open up more
