Guys, how many of you believe that you can maintain a family when you are the only worker / one income with today's economy, prices going up, etc?

Decently I don't mean above your means. But able to live comfortably without worrying about where's the money coming from for food, utilities, vehicle loans & mortgages/rent.

Without unnecessarily depriving your family of things - children play sports for example, are they going to have to give up joining the local hockey team because you can't afford skates, equipment & uniforms?

Because my parents did it. You do what you got to do in life. This is why I laugh at some many young women on here that say a guy has to make "x" amount. Because they're too naive to know that life doesn't follow your plans. Jobs can be lost, economies can turn bad and health can turn. But that's ok because I'm quite certain the vows "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health". Are never really taken serious with these women. When the tough gets going they will get gone, guaranteed.

I do. I make enough to live comfortably on my own. I pay about 21% of my income in taxes with no dependents. My bills were about the same when I was living with my two siblings and one nephew; and the only thing I wasn't paying for was their gas and food. And I donate a couple thousand dollars to charity every year. So a wife and 2 kids should be manageable for me on just the tax reduction of being the head of household and 3 dependents. And if not I could reduce my charitable contributions to make up the shortfall.
