I asked a guy I know from work if he wanted to go for a walk. We have known each other for months and we used to dm and react to each others instagram stories but we have never hung out after work. So when I asked him he agreed and we want for a walk around a park, but during our walk he would say things like "have you been here before my friend" and he would use the word "friend" quite often when talking to me. Does this mean I have been friendzoned? He later asked me if I have eaten and I said I was hungry so he took me to a restaurant and he insisted to pay for my meal as well. He also said that after we could go out for pancakes but something came up so he had to go but he said we could eat pancakes the next time. Before he left he hugged me goodbye.

Don’t put too much emphasis on the word “friend”. He may be just calling you that because you are his friend and he feels comfortable getting to know you better. The fact that he offered to pay for your meal and continued to talk to you afterwards is definitely a good sign. He even mentioned going to have pancakes for the next round. Sounds like a second date will be upon you soon!
