Now he said its getting to the point he either fire or i could resign cause i can't lift 50 pound boxes by myself... Are people retarded these days? Who the fuck looks at a skinny tall girl and thinks yeah she's perfect for thay job
If it’s a requirement, yeah, it should be stated up front before hiring.
In 2000, I got a job as a gofer.
I was told to drive to a warehouse outside of town to pick up some stuff (that was barely described to me (so I didn't know everything to look for)). I leave - as I’m driving back to the job site, I realize it’s missing a part that no one told me about. I double back. Then hit traffic.
I was half an hour “late” from coming back. Not four hours or anything. They fired me for not having a cell phone, expecting me to have one (never asked for my number either so they could call and see what’s up if they were on THAT much of a time crunch). Cell phones were not what they are now. Smart phones weren’t a thing. Not everyone had cell phones (a lot did, but not everyone), but my employer got mad because they gave bad instructions and then I dared to be half an hour “late” from their expected time (which they didn’t tell me “we need this by 4:00”) - now if a cell phone was so vital, why wouldn’t it be mentioned as a requirement for the job? Why wouldn’t they ask for my number either so they could call? Sometimes, bosses are incompetent.
Most jobs I’ve seen, even the low pay part time crap jobs, tend to list the requirements
- Must be able to stand for eight hours with no breaks.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds easily.
- Must speak Bocce, and/or the binary language of moisture evaporators.
But… sometimes I would be surprised by what people can or can’t do… lifting weights sometimes, for example. I’ve seen some scrawny looking dudes lift 75 pounds, while I can’t do it… so appearance is not an absolute guarantee. I was told in one job last minute that I had to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. I could do it, sort of, and I was a scrawny looking dude back then.
But yeah, if important, it should be on an interview list AND the job description early on, so no one wastes their time.

If you live in the United States, depending on the state, usually the employer has to make what's called "reasonable accommodation" for people who are physically unable to perform certain parts of the job.
