If a guy is unusually nice, is he interested in dating you?

I used to know a guy who had an extremely nice friend and one day I told the guy, “your friend is really nice.” And he said, “that’s cause he is wanted to sleep with you.” After that, I became suspicious of very nice people. Being normal nice is normal, but when a guy is extremely nice, makes me wonder.

There is hardly anything in life that happens without reason. We all have a decent "gut" feeling, if the person seems abnormally nice. Yes, they probably like you or want to get to know you on a romantic level.

An average man would have desire to have sex with (meaning, he ONLY wants casual sex with) 20 women for every 1 woman he has romantic feelings for - BUT the average man certainly doesn't actually APPROACH and INTERACT with the majority of those 20 women. In fact, I'd guess that of the men who are "extra nice" to you, that 20 or even 25% of them actually have romantic feelings for you, because men are more likely to actually approach girls they have romantic feelings for, and less likely to approach the ones they only have sexual desire for.

That said, probably only about 10% of "extra nice" men are legitimately platonic, with the majority - the other 60-65% - only pursuing you for casual sex. This means you should ASSUME until proven otherwise that a guy who is being "extra nice" to you is looking of causal sex with you, because that's indeed going to be correct a majority of the time. It still is probably worth at least having a conversation or two and finding out exactly what he IS looking for, but know that casual sex will be the most likely answer.

It usually does mean that he wants to date you, but there have been times where I met a woman and thought she was interesting and would make a good friend, although I wasn't interested in her as a potential girlfriend or she wasn't single.

Depends how nice. There's exchanging pleasantries and polite nice, then there's the looking at your ass/cleavage as he smiles nice.

It could just be that this friend said you were attractive. In a man's mind that translates as he wants sex and that's how he portrayed it.

The friend may genuinely like you for you as a person and this guy is misrepresenting/misinterpreting what was said.
