When a guys says this is it a good sign?

So I met this coworker at the company I work. Somehow we don’t work in the same floor but at the lunch cafeteria we stared talking over sparkling water very sudden conversation and then he asked for my phone number. We messaged only for about a week every day. Then suddenly he messaged me this

“I am afraid to say this but I’m really interested to know you more now..” I said yea ofc I would like to know you more too. He seem like a good person and very kind.

So I understand “ I’m really interested” it means as he said to know me more. But the “ I’m afraid “ part made me question it and came at gag!!
Did he say this because he isn’t sure? Or because he thought I was in a relationship?
