Why is it that my Ex boyfriend observes and looks at me from a distance but when he seen me walking near him he was trying to avoid me by walking off?

My ex boyfriend and I were in the same neighborhood the other day mind you we have been broken up for almost 6 months because he cheated on me and I found out and we both agreed to end the relationship which was the 5th breakup in a 6 and a half month relationship but anyways we were in the same neighborhood because some of my friends and his friends live over there so as I’m walking to my friends house he’s sitting on the porch with his head down rolling up a Blunt to smoke so I guess soon as he heard my voice cause I was otp as I was walking towards that direction he just hurried up and got up and walked away but he stood in the friends yard with his back turned so he didn’t walk far so then he goes to go sit with his other friends but the thing is when I was near him he didn’t name any eye contact only from when he went to go sit with his friends which they were sitting across the street from the other friends house and I noticed dat when I left from the friends house I was walking home so as I’m walking their all just watching me and looking at me including my ex boyfriend so I find that weird that he waited to make eye contact with me and also one of his friends was trying to get with me but I noticed that his friend was trying to put up an act in front of my ex boyfriend by acting like he don’t know me but claims that my ex boyfriend doesn’t care if me and his friend was to date or have something going on but I don’t want his friend or none of his friends at all but I think he’s been keeping it from my ex boyfriend because usually when my ex isn’t around his friend speaks to me but when my ex boyfriend was around that day he was trynna front in front of my ex and in front of the rest of their friends by act long like he couldn’t speak to me

Thank you for your opinion because I said the same exact thing. That’s why he’s avoiding me but it’s crazy cause months ago and not too long ago he has the courage to speak to me and joke around I’m guessing for example when I bumped into him a few weeks ago he spoke to me and was like kind of flirting in a since but he did speak to me so I don’t know where is this behavior of him now doing this starting to come from and part of me thinks that he still has feelings even though he cheated and he’s kind of giving me the silent treatment by him

I might approach him but then again I honestly don’t want to simply because I don’t have an issue with him or any animosity but I know that he currently does based off on our situation but I feel like if I approach him it’s not going to get anywhere he’s just going to either shut down or probably just keep avoiding me and ignoring me plus he’s a narcissist and he’s only 17 and I’m 18 so I don’t know but I’ll try to do my best to come to a resolution with him because I don’t know what his problem is with me it’s like he has secret animosity towards me for no reason and he’s now having it knowing that we’ve been broken up for almost 6 months now which is very strange of him to do considering that he basically left me by cheating on me with the same female I’m guessing that he was with because he betrayed me

I never said that he couldn’t look at me I said what’s weird is the fact that he was watching and trying to observe me from a distance but when I was close by him before he even walked off to even watch me from a distance he wasn’t even looking at me for anything he had his head down when I was near him
