Why do my teachers ship me with him?

Last year I got to know this guy and we never got along. For some reason that year my teacher shipped us and even made it known to the whole class at the end of the year that she did. Now again even when I dont talk to him that much people (including my new teacher) still ship us when we do talk. It doesn't make sense because we always bicker how does that look like flirting to other peoples eyes? I've also been told that we have good chemistry for some reason.
