I go for food with guy friends often. We sit. We eat. We converse. Sometimes I pay. Sometimes they pay. Sometimes we split the bill. I'm also "middle age" so that might make a difference? It shouldn't as long as you don't act any differently. Separate bills help to make intentions clearer. Wear your normal clothes as in don't dress any different than you would hanging out any other time. Don't put any extra effort into yourself than normal. He's going to take his cues from you. Don't talk about sexy stuff or be flirty. If he really sees you as just a platonic friend it shouldn't be seen as anything other than what it is.

Nope I would assume she's bored unless if she's not a typical girl. What I mean by this something I've noticed is a lot of girls don't have ways to entertain themselves and don't like been alone.
Meanwhile us guys typically prefer alone time.
So unless I know she's one who actively does stuff by herself and likes been alone I would guess it's because she's bored.

If I know she likes been alone and does entertain herself then it would me we are great friends or she likes me.
