Is it a red flag if a girl has a high alcohol tolerance?

I said to my crush after he asked what me and my friends drink “so basically we’d have vodka tequila all night back to back and even when other people asked to try my drink they’d be like ouch my chest it burns I’d be like it isn’t even that bad” he seemed turned off

Yep, huuuuuuge red flag, for me.

I'll just say that I've had very bad experiences with friends/family who drink, all my life, and I literally think it's one of the most vile substances on Earth, with nothing positive coming from its existence or consumption.

I don't judge people that do drink; that's none of my business, whatsoever, but I absolutely would not date someone that said that, ever. That would be an automatic dealbreaker.

Yes big red flag. I like a girl who can have a few drinks but something like that tells me she may have drank like a horse at one time to build up that tolerance. So that makes me think she have issues? Drinking a lot at one time to try to drown those issues? I may duck her but I wouldn’t take her seriously.

I don't see it as a red flag. Never seeing someone sober and having a high tolerance from constant drinking is a red flag though. Having a high tolerance is fine as long as it's not the thing that defines them.

Oh no this guy only ever met me sober we never drank together but I told him I had a high tolerance and he seemed concerned maybe had family members with a high tolerance that where alcoholics or some bad experience with an ex that drank a lot who knows

It's an unusual thing to mention if you have never drank together. The family history when it comes to alcohol can be a touchy topic. Much like personal beliefs and other things people can feel strongly about.

He did ask. I guess he wasn't ready for such an upright answer. It's something that is going to come up eventually. If he's not okay with it now, he won't be okay with it later either. Better to find out sooner.

Maybe the individual had a alcoholic relative or friend so played close attention when they realised I had a tolerance that was on the higher end. Or it could just be them reacting out or not knowing what to say to a topic they didn’t care about and I picked it up wrong
