There’s a guy I work with whom from the get go showed all the signs that he was into me. (Flirty, special treatment, getting to know me, created a nickname for me, going out of his way to help, compliments) But because we work together and how serious he takes his job he never asked me out or anything, so I took it upon myself to open the door.
I’ve been in situations where coworkers didn't want to make things weird at work and say how they feel, and I’m one of those direct people who is like, well the only way to know is to just do it, so I asked him out for drinks. He was so excited and said he would love to and asked for my number.
But since then it’s been on and off. One minute he’s all in, the next he’s distant and weird. And also he never reached out, so I took it as a sign I might have jumped the gun too soon so I backed off. Then out of nowhere, he asks me at work if I want to grab lunch next week. We were about to set a day but then someone came in and interrupted the conversation and never got back to setting a time.
But ever since that moment, he’s been nervous and shy around me, will go out of his way to stand by me and talk, body language is always facing me, esp when people are around, and he always shares his food with me. The only difference is, he’s not as flirty, stopped calling me by my nickname and doesn’t compliment me anymore. And once again he never reached out about lunch.
is he just being nice to keep the peace at work, but not interested, or is there a part of him still interested but not knowing what to do?

Definitely interesting. Maybe he has mixed feelings. It seems like you’re really trying to find a date and he is kind of putting it off.
I don’t know the answer. Maybe he is nervous. I don’t know. I think you should speak to him directly how you feel and how you’re putting effort in and he really isn’t. The if he isn’t interested or needs time to think to just tell you. So that you can both move on with your lives or pick a date and see how it goes.
