Why is it that in our society, men are encouraged to reply that they are single even though they may be sitting right next to a woman he's seeing? (Page 2)

I mean, the first moment that a woman gets a man, even after their first date, she's already telling everyone that she's in a relationship so that people stop bugging her about why she's doesn't have a boyfriend (i. e. 'what's wrong with her?'), as her status is now good. Men, on the other hand, pride themselves in acting as though they have all the time in the world to find a woman, as if they have an abundance mindset that young women will still want to go out with them when the guy is older. So for example, at a dinner party, if someone were to ask the woman (who just went out on a first date with a guy) if she has a boyfriend, it would preserve her reputation to say 'yes!', with a huge sigh of relief that the chase is over. Meanwhile, the guy in the same situation at the party (just went on one date with a girl) will proudly say 'no, I don't have a girlfriend', and also assuming his reputation is preserved. Why are women encouraged to act desperate and chase after relationships at an early age whereas men are encouraged to have fun at the expense of women's desperation at their respective young age?
