I was talking to this hot girl at a bar. She seemed to really like me. A guy I don’t like comes in and starts chatting her up. She’s still just happy talking to me. Then he offers her a free drink and she suddenly goes running after him with her friend

Major cockblock, like he’s trying to sabotage. I would love to punch his face so hard.

If that happened to me, I'd curse him out and threaten to beat his ass. The guy thinks you're weak and is trying to prove this to the girl. It's typical 'territorial disputing,' like what animals do. It actually has a name: Kleptoparasitism. You're the one who caught the girl, and he's the hyena trying to "steal your prize."

I don't take that lightly, so I'd sooner risk making the girl upset by getting angry at the guy, than letting the guy try to chump me.

You LOST because you let the guy make you look like a bitch, instead of defending yourself in front of the girl. The girl could sense you were weak and she left you because of it. I've seen this happen in real life. And guys have TRIED to pull that sh*t with me in real life too. I get really angry at it, and my first question is, "I'm sorry; who the f*ck are you?" before threatening to f*ck them up. I get pissed off at the mere implication that they'd think of me as a target to "steal" from. I'd legit get into a fight with them and break something in them, if need be.

And no, I'm not saying my approach is the "correct" one. I'm just saying, if you don't stand up to natural predators, you prove yourself to be the prey. No lion sits there and lets a hyena steal their prize them. And I'm not trying to compare women to a dead wildebeest or anything like that at all; but I didn't make up what kleptoparasitism is, and that's what this scenario is in the human world.

So Option B. Tell the guy to f*ck off and pretend like the woman is already your girlfriend. And be willing to kick his ass, if need be.
