Why is it said that strong men are stoics when stoicism accomplishes nothing?

Something you see more and more of lately is this idea that weak men lose their temper and strong men are all calm and collected and shit.

What has being "calm and collected" done for any situation except for encourage inaction and passivity?

I can only assume this is some wacky attempt to counter the concept of "toxic masculinity." If so, it's a shitty one and it's stupid.

If becoming a strong man means I let things happen that shouldn't be letting happen because I want to appear stoic, I'll gladly stay a weak man and the rest of you can cartwheel through traffic.. stoically, of course.
