Why is it this insult is used so often to women but rarely for men? Is it just a sexism thing? Im on a few meme groups on Facebook and I get so many comments calling me attention seeking for making memes yet I never see this when I guy makes one.
I remember the snide comments in high school when I’d wear anything slightly revealing all I’d get called was and attention whore.
Like why guys why?
If a woman gets called an attention-seeker by men, it's because there's a perceived unfair imbalance of attention. She's just putting stuff out for validation but doesn't actually give a shit about the guys who are giving attention. The guys end up feeling used and disposed of. This is pretty big in social media.
If a woman gets called an attention-seeker by other women, it's because those women are jealous and perceive her as a threat to the attention these women want. The best way to get to an even playing field is by dragging those above you down.
Women don't generally call guys attention-seekers because that would mean they care enough about the guy to interact with him. They'd rather just ignore and avoid him. Plus, some behaviours are construed as being attractive because they show confidence.
Men don't generally call guys attention-seekers because it shows pettiness, jealousy, and insecurity, which are unattractive to women. So guys run the risk of shooting themselves in the foot. But just because guys don't call it out, doesn't mean they're not thinking it.
Why do you wear makeup? Do your hair, post selfies on social media, wear skin tight or revealing clothing? Lots of women say it’s so they can feel good and confident. Sooo if that is the case, why is it, then you are at home or with some of your girlfriends and you are comfortable, you just wear sweat pants, throw your hair in a bun or ponytail and not try to do you makeup? The first part is to get people to look at you. If it was for yourself, you wouldn’t spends minutes to hours putting a mask on so you can show the world that you can’t be pretty. Or show the world you have a nice ass and tits. And you definitely wouldn’t post that selfie and check it every so often to see how many likes you get and comments so you can ghost them.
Point is, all of that is seeking attention. Men don’t do that. Men are usually more confident in themselves. Insecure in other ways, but in who they are and having to gain attention, MOST men don’t care about that. Some men do, don’t get me wrong but the majority of men that do that to women doing it is significantly lower than why women do it.
I think it's that women won't bully men for seeking attention like most men I know seek attention (not cuz of clothes/fashion/social media like women but by the way they act out in public settings). Men on the other hand sit there and bully women for this.
Truly it's one of those boys will be boys excuses. They're allowed to be loud, take the attention on the room yet women do it in a more reserved way and get called out for it 🙄
I call them that a lot. I even referred to one as that in a post today. there's one guy who I dont think wants me but he doesn't want anyone else to have me either so he does attention seeking things in hopes to keep my interest. I stopped giving it to him

Let’s be honest. How many guys vs. girls post selfies of themselves all the time on social media? Seriously. How often do guys do that in general? How often do guys show off their bodies and looks on social media? And if a guy does that will he not get some (at best) good natured “ribbing” from other guys and even girls for acting vain? I was a fitness model in my 20s and got cracks about being vain and “gay” when I occasionally (but definitely not everyday) posted pics of myself. Would a woman ever get insulted like that?
Men like positive attention from women of course. But we don’t need it to survive. If we get attention we want it to be genuine and hopefully from someone we don’t mind getting it from.
Yet many woman (not all but a lot) just love the sugar high of posting pics and videos of themselves. Including provocative ones. They claim it’s about “confidence” but is getting attention from countless randos on social media a true “affirmation” about your looks?
What’s worse is women post pics like this and then later complain about getting attention from where they don’t want it. It’s like opening you front door and yelling at strangers to come into your house. Don’t be surprised if you end up with later unwanted guests.
Anyway men even attractive men don’t get the leeway to act the way women do online. Quit trying to compare this apples to apples.

But if we openly show our jealousy/emotions about that how do we look? Do people have any respect for men who act that way?
I was a lot more sensitive in my youth about all of this by the way. More sensitive than the average young man at the time. However I discovered that expressing my jealousy/frustration or looking for attention was considered pathetic and effeminate.
What frustrated me about the QA is she has out very little mental effort into understanding both sides of this. Not at all acknowledging the very real higher/double standards men face when it comes to all of this.
Also about “society” training men and women to behave differently. I don’t completely agree with that. Men behave the way they for Freudian reasons. They know one kind of behavior (acting emotional) risks losing respect from other men and more importantly women. It makes them less attractive to women hence lowering their chances of getting sex. That’s the real reason limit how they express their emotions.
Also there was a time in history where a woman’s physical looks were the only real power she had. Not fair at all and sexist of course. However that’s how it was.
Anyway beauty and relationships is the only real leverage she had in society. So getting attention obviously reaffirms that to her vs. getting little or none makes her feel worthless. Despite living in a “modern society“ women have not completely evolved out of that. This also explains why many women still go after money even though there are more than enough opportunities for them in the modern world.
@Asad1ONE1 men and women are different at a DNA level and hormones. Even our brains are structured differently. That of course is being completely ignored by progressives right now but that’s another story.
Men crave respect. Women are much more likely to date and sleep with men they respect. However attention is not always the same as respect.

I'd say it boils down to the difference between how men and women get attention. Women just ARE, men must BECOME. Women can preen what they have all day and flaunt online but if a guy only does that, (unless he's a model) other men will see him as effeminate or gay.
Men have to do something in order to get positive attention. Usually mastering a skill of some kind or showing off resources or status.
This is the same kind of double standard that applies when women are promiscuous for sleeping around and men aren't judged nearly as harshly for that. It's easy for a decently attractive woman to get laid. A man must have something other than only looks.

At other times (that mainly don't apply to you) some women will make a point of having videos that are deliberately provocative and thereby attention seeking. By that I mean some women will thrive by staring at their instagram comments and it becomes an addiction to get the most amount of likes etc. That's what I would call seeking attention for the sake of it.
That is uncommon of most men iv'e ever met. Though we like the attention iv'e not seen men thrive off of attention and compliments from social media platforms. I'm sure it exists though, i think it most common of young women who seek more attention that way. That would be my theory on why it is said to them a lot of times.
Well I can’t say I’ve seen every video out there as far as what men make compared to what women make. But most videos I’ve seen that makes make are funny, stupid videos that make people laugh. The videos I’ve seen are women complaining about men, I don’t need a man, shaking their ass, posing trying to look sexy. I don’t see men doing things like that. Most of the videos women make seem to be about their body positivity, etc, etc. Besides most men don’t get complimented anyway, not even from their partners.
Because we don't get attention, or compliments, if we try to seek attention, girls will mock us and guys will make sure we know we ain't shit.
To be an attention seeker, you need to know you'll get attention first, something that 90% of us know we won't get.

It’s true. A man who acts attention seeking especially via his looks does appear pathetic and insecure.
He can only get legitimate attention from WHAT HE DOES. Not just his looks. He needs to be in action surfing, lifting heavy weights, performing in martial arts, etc. His looks alone aren’t enough. Men aren’t special just for existing.
Just like on average, women love drama and men do not, the majority of women who seek attention, just do it for the attention. It is its own Endgame, its own reward.
When men seek attention, it's usually as a means to a different end. Like sex.
Men do get called attention seekers when they actually do exhibit attention seeking behavior. But there are countless women all over the internet who post pictured of themselves virtually naked or with their cleavage hanging out on display who are so obviously seeking male attention of a certain kind and looking for compliments and validation. It's just far more common for women to do it, that's why.
Because they rather say women are the attention whores.
I saw this video bashing women for loving attention yet he walked around South Beach without a shirt to show off his body (obviously for attention and yes the dude was in very good physical shape.
Bullies will determine what insults work best on you based on your reactions and use them. For women it tends to be social or emotional things, at least to an outside observer. For men it seems to be incompetence or a physical defect.

True, I've already noticed a new attention seeking thing that men have been doing especially on TikTok. Where they put emphasis on wanting to commit suicide to garter attention and sympathy and a following no one says anything

To your original question - men don't throw hints but are expected to pursue (honestly, I wish I got to be the persued at hints alone, and not expected to do all the persuing) - and females take waaay more selfies for instagram and obsess about it.
Women are masters at throwing hints, and also ask out plenty of guys. Most women I know myself included have asked out at least a few dudes, and have been rejected plenty!
