Why does my crush suddenly act distant and turns his head when I put on lip balm?

So, there's a coworker who seems to "run into me by coincidence" almost everywhere I am at work.

He stares at me and it's so obvious that other coworkers have noticed it. He pops up on the majority of my lunch breaks. I initially only saw him as a friend, but now the feelings are mutual.

But it seems like since I started having a crush on him, he's been acting kinda distant. He's still friendly, still "coincidentally" runs into me, and stares; yet, he seems distant.

I've noticed on two different occasions (during my lunch break) that when I put on lip balm after eating, he turns his head to avoid seeing me. Does this mean he's lost interest? It's all very confusing to me lol 😆

I'm tempted to ask him why he does that, yet I don't want things to be awkward between us.
