We used to like each other at work but nothing happened and we never told each other. We went out separate ways and he got married by divorced 6 months later. He told his mate who’s married to my friend that “I was the one who got away” and “anyone who’s friends with me is a good catch” but I was engaged at this moment and now married. He stopped speaking to me.

Fast forward 8 years later with no contact at all, he’s added me on Snapchat. He commented on a picture of my child and I tried to converse but he kept it short. So why re-add me? Why after so long?

He saw a snap of me on his old account, and re-added me on his new account on Snapchat a few weeks later after around midnight and I saw it in the morning.

I’ve had men from my past add me on Snapchat as well, even though I’ve been in a relationship for a few years now and he’s always in my snaps. I don’t read into it though, and neither should you. In fact I’d tell you not to try and re-establish that bridge of communication at all. Adding you on Snapchat doesn’t automatically mean he’s trying to stoke the flames between you two again. But even if he was, why would you even open the path to that? There’s no need to build or strengthen a friendship with a man from your past anyway, when you’re married with children now. Don’t reopen that chapter on your behalf or give him the opportunity to do so on his. I say this because I know you’d probably be very uncomfortable and threatened if you found out he was texting a woman from his past who once referred to him as “the one who got away”. Unless the love is gone then I guess you wouldn’t care.
