I work at a store so people compliment me all the time not just men it’s quite nice but I don’t feel like they mean anything serious by it lol.

That is completely up to you. Nothing has value unless we give it said value. This makes me think of when I used to work at the prison. Cons would try to ask for little things, like an extra cookie, or an extra few minutes to watch tv. Once they got what would seem like an innocent thing to most people they’d ask for bigger favors. They’re seeing what they can get away w, who’s who as far as who can I get the most from. You let him call you beautiful then it could lead to, oh well let me try to touch her hand, or bring you a flower, etc. Then you’re smitten w him, you hook up behind the cashier stand, 9 months later jr pops out then he leaves lol jk too extreme but you get the picture. I mean would you be ok w some girl calling your man handsome or sexy? Probably not. Best advice I tell people is to imagine what you’d tell someone who was in the same situation you are who asked you for advice.

It's really not all that weird, when you realize the experiences that most men have with most women. He's probably had dozens of women, not even married women, treat him like an absolute piece of shit for making comments like that.

Oh that’s nice I hope it’s just that, it was just different because most people don’t ask if it’s ok they just say it. He doesn’t seem like a guy that would normally get rejected though he’s tall, muscular and doesn’t seem shy like he will stare obviously at me not in a creepy way but he's not embarrassed about it.

Ohhh trust me, that is ABSOLUTELY the kind of guy who would get rejected a lot. Insecure and socially incompetent women will reflexively reject men like that just because they get uncomfortable with the attention.
