Is this a specific sign that the guy likes her? We discussed it with my friend, but we couldn't come to a conclusion. Is this a kind of a flirty sentence or just a regular ''good night'' message?
It depends entirely on the conversation you had before he said it.
If the prior conversation was a gushing of cuteness overload, and he gets tired and goes, and tells you that before leaving as you're also ready to go to bed, it's the equivalent of waving goodbye.
If it were a horny conversation, it's possibly a flirty remark hidden poorly.
If the two of you have been in a heated debate, but he just got the upperhand outside the debate, and is about to make you look like a fool, it could be a sarcastic line, and the real meaning is "f you."
If he's a gangster, and you're on his bad side, it could mean you're about to sleep with the fishes. Picture it in the voice of that Johnny guy from the "Angels with Filthy Souls" films that Kevin watched in the Home Alone movies: "Sweet dreams, ya filthy animal!"
So context is everything.

I think it's the most bare minimum word someone would say to you. They're just being nice to you so you can say "you too". If they liked you they would give you another signs.
Usually it’s like giving you a brotherly kiss on the cheek.

I say sweet dreams to my platonic friends. Doesn't necessarily mean anything other than "have a good night".
I've said that to coworkers leaving night shift. Doesn't mean anything intrinsically. I'm not tucking them in.
Yes, it is a term of endearment, here when someone who you care about leaves you tell them to watch out for deer.
I think so. Means you care enough for them to have good dreams when they drift off to sleep.
His way of being kind and giving you a text message that is nice he could have feelings but don't read into too much.
That's a common enough phrase that you shouldn't read into it.
I only say it to someone I am really interested in.
I would probably only say it to my Girlfriend or Wife and my Kids not anyone else.
It's a pretty common thing to say, doesn't mean much.
