Would you pissed about this or am I overreacting?

I reached out to my uncle to ask if he wanted to come to a house inspection with me a week ago, but I told him repeatedly that if he got called in to work to please let me know so I didn't waste my time driving to pick him up. Well right as I am on my way to pick him up, I call him to let him know I was 10 minutes away from picking him up and he tells me he is at work.

He does not have set days or times for his job. Sometimes he will be told the day off he is working, but he always get told by 10am if he is working. It doesn't bother me that he is working, but it's the fact he told me repeatedly that he would tell me if he was working or not so I didn't waste my time driving his way and he didn't bother contacting me to let me know he got called into work.

Dude, that would totally piss me off! Your uncle definitely should have given you a heads up that he got called into work, since you specifically told him to let you know so you didn't waste your time driving over there.

I mean come on, how hard is it to shoot you a quick text in the morning saying he couldn't make it after you reminded him about it? It's just inconsiderate that he didn't bother contacting you until you were already on your way.

I'd be mad at having to drive all that way for nothing. Plus it shows a lack of respect for your time since he didn't hold up his end of the communication. I'd definitely tell him that ain't cool next time I talked to him and maybe think twice about doing him favors in the future if he's gonna pull that kinda thing.

That type of flakey behavior would rub me the wrong way too. Your anger is understandable - don't let him try to make you feel like you're overreacting! He messed up here and should know better next time.
