Why are big butts celebrated in the black community?

As a slim fit black woman that wears a size 4 in pants. I never understood how having a big butt is glorified in the black community. Why pay money to look fat? In the black community I'm considered to thin but in the white community I'm considered just right.

this is another area the whole "black" / "white" generality is too broad a stroke. It's just a little bit of information that does not cover everyone. Africa is a huge continent with many cultural groups on it. They were generally dark due to location to Equator as such people adapted. African Americans came from Africa and Africans came from Africa. Even within Africa, there are many tribes and cultures.

Some of those tribes even today value the "fat woman"... round belly. Some other tribes are taller and skinny. I don't claim to know all the cultures. A culture is something that "works" for that group, the survival abilities and traits passed on in that group... it's what they know and believe to be true... even if they are now 5000 miles away in a chilly climate in Wisconsin.

So, such persons continue to believe these things as they are deeply ingrained in their sub conscious minds.

Fat in general means stored fuel. Stored fuel means survival... there is a "health" perspective to round... for at least some. Skinny may seem unhealthy... but if you are an endurance runner, as example, it may be very healthy and fat is terrible. Fat people don't out do attacking lions, some others might.

Also... it seems science is learning some of this "genetics" is in the bacteria in the gut. A lot of our DNA is there, and that is where it is passed on.

I have no idea but I'm also not black. For me I'm a boob guy not an ass man, but its the really tight looking ones that make even me go "Damm! So hot".

In the black community that's considered a ground pound or more cushion for the pushing. The white Community likes it to fit in the Palm of their hands.

Don't forget the Latinos. They too have a thing for it. I personally don't enjoy sizes beyond a certain point. And I actually find the cute, snooty type off butt a bit more appealing.
