Because it can be. If he doesn’t have the finances a lot of women aren’t going to say yes to a coffee date or a walk in the park. You act as if though it’s not hard to approach the opposite sex to ask for their number or ask them for a date. If you don’t think it’s hard for men then it shouldn’t be hard for you either. That’s an easy thing for women to say because most of them, especially since the beginning of time have never had to ask a man on a date or for his number. Most women won’t even look most men’s way because they’re not cute enough. A large percentage of men are sexless. Sure you’ll say there’s women who are the same but the difference is a girl even if she’s not that cute can still get a man to have sex w her because there’s a lot of men out there who aren’t having it. But w most ugly men, even the not so best looking chick won’t have sex w him. As for a lot of them not even trying, sure some are just lazy but a lot of them don’t want to try because a lot of women aren’t worth it.

Like just go to the girls and tell them "hello sweetie, you have beautiful hair (or whatever)" and have a ~20% chance of getting a date?

For relationships? It depends, but usually one partner ends up doing more for the other person, although it's not guaranteed to be a guy. There are plenty of relationships where the woman is the one doing all the chores and putting in effort.
