Guys, why do some men compliment other women in front of their crush?

It's not an effective way to get attention. Period. From my experiences, chances are she will hate you since no one would like to be compared. I think it's time to write a mytake about this.

It´s either on purpose. I think it´s a kind of a cold shoulder move. That´s probably something a guy does that doesn´t feel loved enough in a relationship and because she might have done something that hurt him he now does something to take revenge.
Or it´s not on purpose because there are situations where a guy feels trapped since he might out with his crush and some friends so he now wants to be nice and compliments another woman in the group. Then I would say it´s a misunderstanding of the situation and its consequences.

Even if I saw a duplicate of my crush, what sets her apart is I committed to her. I only know her. I know her personality. That doesn’t fade, it’s irreplaceable.

You MIGHT think that and certainly if you ASKED girls you'd get a similar response. But if you actually looked at their BEHAVIOR you might see something quite different.

As just one example, I had started dating a girl once and we weren't yet exclusive. She wasn't really sure if she wanted to be, and that's cool. So I asked out another girl to go to an event somewhere. We ended up running into the first girl at the event and when she saw me with another (rather pretty) girl, she was surprised, and a bit sad. That's what it took for her to realize she actually DID want to be exclusive. Shortly thereafter we were.

Again, if you'd have ASKED her "would you find this guy guy MORE or LESS appealing if you saw him out with another girl?" or "would you be MORE or LESS likely to want to be exclusive with him if you saw him out with another girl?" she ALMOST CERTAINLY would have answered "less." And yet, her BEHAVIOR when faced with EXACTLY that scenario, told a different story.

This is actually a VERY important lesson for GOOD social science work--you learn a LOT more from observing behavior than you do from asking questions. People will deceive and they'll often start with deceiving themselves. Actions don't lie.

Well, because it's her. Not me. I agree that we should rely on actions rather than words. I also realize that people lie, maybe sometimes it's unintentional.

The easiest person for someone to deceive is themself. I'm sure a SUBSTANTIAL portion of the people who say they have one preference and act out another preference would say that they too "always walk (their) talk." And while in SOME cases that will indeed be true, in many MANY cases it is not.
