Why do men withdraw affection after you refuse having sex with them?

We tend to speak different languages, in terms of what "affection" means. I believe, for a lot of men, sex is a large part of affection. And if you're not in a giving mood, many men won't be in a giving mood either. Relationships tend to be give and take, it is naturally an exchange, and if you're a taker more than a giver, than you'll likely find that the man will match that attitude. Or at least match it whenever it happens, whether frequently or infrequently.

Sometimes you can hear or read about some woman showing interest in a man, regardless if it's about sex or something else.

If the man doesn't reciprocate the woman often get less interested.

Why would it then be so surprising that a man can lose interest if not being reciprocated?

Are men always expected to be up for anything?

because if you refused sex with them, you did the exact same. sex is one of many expressions of affection. and if you refuse that, you just withdrew affection from him. not saying wha the does is "smart" for a long term relationship. but he is giving you some of your own medicine and you don't seem to like it, yet you're giving that to him...

In most cases it's probably a petty thing. In some cases though men may feel more distant from you if you're rejecting them sexually
