After a date who checks on who first? should he have checked to see if I made it home even if he offered to take me home?

I live only 2 minutes from the place. I didn’t drive bc I hate driving lol….

But he offered to take me home and he wanted me to put my address into his Lyft app to pay for my ride home.. I declined

here's how I see it:

Generally after a first date, it's thoughtful if the guy reaches out the next day just to make sure you got home safe and let you know he had a good time. Even just a quick text works. Shows he cares.

In your situation, since the date ended with you both leaving separately and it was a short distance, I don't think it's necessarily expected of him to check in. Taking you home in the Lyft was nice of him to offer though.

That said, since he suggested that and you left at the same time, a simple "thanks for tonight, hope you got home okay!" text wouldn't have hurt. Left the ball in your court then too if you want to chat more.

I wouldn't sweat it too much either way. You're probably both trying to play it cool after a first date. If you want to see him again, you could always be the one to reach out first too. Say "thanks for a fun time!" or whatever.

Otherwise I'd give it a day or two - if he doesn't text by then he's probably not that interested. But early days yet, don't read too much into it. Hope it goes well with you guys!

I did end up texting him thank you etc and he replied but after that nothing else. I sent numerous texts but he didn’t respond.
