Do celebrities ever lie about their sexuality?

I’ve had someone claiming to be a well known musician, add me on Facebook. I won’t mention any names, but he flirted with me and said he’s seeking a serious relationship with a woman, but is a very private person. I googled him and it says he’s a real person, but that he’s gay. It’s not impossible. I’m an ordinary person, but I have been offered a career in modelling, recently. So I don’t look ordinary. It’s a real person. He sent me videos of himself that he’s filmed. My question is, do people lie about their sexuality, to promote their music, or acting careers?

Absolutely. Gay male celebs pretend to be straight. Lesbian celebrities if they've a big male following pretend to be straight for a time. Then there's other celebs who needing attention will announce they are bisexual, pansexual, demisexual etc

Depending what they are famous for they may hide the fact they are gay.

I know of some male football players (or soccer) who are having a really hard time after their coming.

While music business people were always more open and accepting, so people can be more open in general.

I don't think it happens much in 2024. I was stunned when Lena Dunham married a man, and it would not surprise me if she came out as a lesbian anyway
