Well you are a guy... so why do you think that is? My guess is that they are always hopeful that we want more than to just give a compliment. They are hoping that because we noticed (insert compliment) that means we have eyes for the guy. I get what you are saying but it can also be applied in reverse. So many girls take compliments as a guy hitting on her when maybe they are just being nice. Sure guys do that to hit on girls but all of them? Doubtful. Just like every guy isn't going to take a girl complimenting her to mean anything other than that. I think it swings both ways in some cases.
